Today Is, "Straight, From Your Gay Best Friend" Advice Day...

Happy Friday, everyone!

It’s a three-day weekend and I hope you all are planning a wonderful weekend filled with fun, love, and family.

It’s also “Straight, From Your Gay Best Friend” Advice Day. And this weeks letter is from a young woman who is in school, but she keeps meeting men who are un-dateable. YIKES!

Enjoy this week’s letter and advice.

Dear Gay Best Friend,

So, I’m having trouble finding the man of my dreams, as one would say. I’m not searching too hard, but at the moment I’m actually working on me. I’m in the middle of studying for my certification as a medical assistant, and I’m also in school for Healthcare Administration. All of this and I’m only 21. I’m still living with my mother until school is completed and to some that’s not too attractive, but at the same time everyone has their moment when they realize it’s time to go. And, I’m definitely ready to go. I just can’t seem to find the right time to leave.
But, anyway, for some reason I actually suck when it comes to picking the right man.

To make a long story short, every guy I actually start talking to is either somebody elses man or full of it in the first place. And when I do actually find someone I want to be with I run away from the relationship because I don’t know how to start my life with someone because I’ve learned to be so independent since my mom’s a single mother. And that doesn’t really settle with them.

Another thing that I dread is that I LOVE kids and I want one of my own, but of course I don’t want to be another stereotype with the “baby daddy drama” and all that jazz. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I don’t want my child resenting their father like I do mine. What I’m trying to say is that I need some kind of advice on how to start my life with a significant other and how to find the right significant other. – Independent and Confused!

Also, I hope you all are enjoying your copies of my new book, "Visible Lives." The three novellas are
page-turners!

Today Is, "Straight, From Your Gay Best Friend" Advice Day...

Hey Family! Have you checked out the new design of the Hello Beautiful site? Isn’t it great! Yes, we loves it!

I am happy to share this week’s, “Straight, From Your Gay Best Friend,” Advice Day with two entries. Yes, I got two letters from women inquiring if their men are playing them.

Check out the letters and tell them what you think! Have a great weekend!

Dear Gay Best Friend,

I’m starting to feel maybe the love was never there. You see, I have been dating this guy, “Carl,” off and on for almost 2 years now. About 3 months ago he finally told me he wanted to marry me and start our relationship properly with no lies, BS, or cheating. None of that.

At first I was ready to say, ‘yes,’ then I remembered all the drama and cheating that went on the first time we broke up. After a few weeks of convincing me we decided it would be best for our daughter if we made a family, that way she knows what a real family is. Yet, there lies the problem. About a month ago Carl started becoming distant. He told me that somebody was making him angry and that he no longer cared. In my head I began to think, ‘So, he doesn’t care about me or our daughter this is not going to work.’

Me, being one to never bite my tongue I asked Carl if he even cared for me or our daughter. He said he didn’t know anymore. Part of me wants to say screw it all and end it, but I’m not the kind of person to keep a man from his child. I have suspension that Carl is filling up another girl’s head who he happened to meet online. He told her that he wants to marry her and be with her. But at the same time he’s telling me I am still the only one for him. Now in my mind I could just be paranoid but given our past I say it’s quite a possible. Now I’m not the one who brought up marriage he did. I mean Carl was the first one to say I love you, but now he’s acting immature. Carl will talk to other girls, and what not, on-line, and even his boys before he even dares talk to me. Do you think he’s cheating? Or, is it possible it’s more to the story – Confused Mother of 1

I will have a contest with the book as well....

Today Is, "Read A Book" - My Darkest Hour...

This week’s “Read A Book” is a powerful memoir that every person should read. It’s a chilling story of author, Harold L. Turley, II, and his life as a former abuser.

Abuse is a serious issue and topic, and many persons experience it yet never discuss it. Hopefully after reading this interviewing you will feel compelled to start a dialogue with someone you know who is, or, are experiencing an abusive relationship. Or, you will reasses your own relationships for healing.

In his poignant and moving memoir, MY DARKEST HOUR: THE DAY I REALIZED I WAS ABUSIVE (Strebor/Atria Books; $13.00/April 2010), Turley recounts much more than the abuse he endured and he himself inflicted upon others. He identifies in detail the emotional, economic, and domestic abuse that occurs in many relationships, and prescribes a course of action for both the victim and the abuser.

Harold L. Turley II didn’t feel any love as a child – only pain, fear, and hatred. His only hope was that he would be able to move on from the past that haunted him for so long and be free from the constant abuse that endured him for most of his childhood. Sadly, the tumultuous memories of the physical and mental abuse of Harold’s past would only prove to manifest itself negatively into his adult life, continuing the vicious cycle of abuse in his life.

Harold L. Turley II was born and raised in Washington D.C. An author and performance poet, he lives with his children in Brandywine, Maryland. Turley first thrilled readers with the critically acclaimed novel Love’s Game, touched the lives of many with Confessions of a Lonely Soul, ad showed the practical glamour of the life of crime – while introducing readers to the effects and consequences of that life – with his urban fiction title, Born Dying. He is also a contributing author in the anthologies A Chocolate Seduction and Nikki Turner Presents: Backstage (Street Chronicles).

You can check out my interview with Harold, here: http://hellobeautiful.com/special-features/read-a-book/terrancedean/former-abuser-recants-his-life-in-chilling-memoir-my-darkest-hour/

Today Is, "Straight, From Your Gay Best Friend" Advice Day...

Hey Y’all! It’s Friday, and you know it’s “Straight, From Your Gay Best Friend” Advice Day.

And, this week I got a letter from an older gay man who is in love with his minister. Yes, you read that correctly. There is scandal in the pulpit.

Check out this week’s letter and chime in.

Dear Gay Best Friend,

I desperately need your advice.

I am a 67 year-old gay man and have only had a couple of brief gay affairs (one-nighters). I am not out, but am somewhat feminine.

The problem I am having involves a friend, “Cecil,” (58 years old) that was a former minister of my church and married. He has never directly told me his interest in me but indirectly lead me to think he was / is.

Cecil once told me that he loved me after service one Sunday, but said as a brother. Another time Cecil told me he would do anything for me.

On Christmas, a few years ago, Cecil called me from North Carolina to tell me that he had just entered the state and wanted to say Merry Christmas. I had no idea he was going there for the holiday. Cecil also told me there was something he wanted to tell me but didn’t know how to tell me. He never said what it was.

After driving me home one Sunday I got out of Cecil’s car, he got out also and for a few seconds he stood there and looked me in the eyes without saying anything and returned to the vehicle.

Cecil left the church about a year ago. His wife left him a few months before that. I don’t know why she left him. He never discussed that with me nor did he tell me she had left, but it was well known at the church. He is a very private person. He and his wife have three children together and he has an older child in North Carolina that’s from another relationship. All of his children are adults. He has two grandchildren also.

Since Cecil left the church he doesn’t answer my calls nor return my emails, but other members told me he talks with them. He did thank me for wishing him a Happy Birthday last year in an email. Before Cecil left our church he mentioned to a fellow church member that I had visited another member (a woman), and he overheard the conversation. He also saw this same woman hugging and kissing me a few times. He later asked me about her.

My question to you is do you think Cecil was in love with me? Also do you think he is mad with me because of this woman? Since he is not talking to me I am unable to ask him why he is shunning me. I want him to know that this woman and I are just friends. I believe she would like for it to be more than a friendship, but I no longer desire a woman. I am deeply hurt by his actions and love him very much. I have never had a male partner and I desire a relationship. I tried to not get emotionally or physically involved with Cecil because he was married and I was worried of being hurt by him, as well as the sin aspect. I have no one to discuss this with and would appreciate your input. What should I do or not do? – We Were Once Very Close

Today Is, "He Can Get It" Wednesday - Bruck...

Yes, it’s “He Can Get It” Wednesday and I have a special treat for you today.

Today’s fine exotic specimen of a man hails from GERMANY! It is my pleasure to introduce this sexy good-looking brother, Bruck Tekle. The 28-year old was born in Krefeld, Germany to Tzehainesh Gebreselassie/Tekle and Tewolde Tekle, a working class Eritrean family from east Africa.

Bruck’s father was the first to make his way to Germany looking for a better life and future. Bruck was raised in Germany with his two older sisters Jael and Zion and older brother Emanuel, where he went to school. He is fluent in German, English and Eritrean. DAMN! He is trilingual. Now, ladies, I am sure Bruck will be more than happy to teach an eager student how to speak his native language.

Bruck’s parents unfortunately divorced when he was 7 years old. However, growing up, his dad exposed him to soccer at the age of 4. He became one of the best soccer players in his age group and city winning numerous awards and trophies. He played the sport for sixteen years until the age of twenty.

Surprisingly or we should say ”as nature took its course” after sixteen years Bruck found out that he had another passion, which was basketball. He took that passion after extra hours and hours of hard work in the gym and made it to the semi-professional level in Germany. After playing for 4 years, Bruck later came to the United States (New York) in hopes of playing for a college basketball team. After numerous tryouts with no luck in landing a spot on a team, Bruck decided to stay in the United States to pursue his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, as well as pursuing a modeling career.

Bruck’s modeling came into play when a photographer approached him and asked if he was willing to pose for one of his projects. Bruck was reluctant at first, not sure of what was being offered. After his older sisters explained to him that the offer was legitimate and harmless, he made what proved to be an excellent decision by accepting the opportunity. Bruck is a fresh-face in the modeling industry. LAWD! Yes, he is!!

You can see more of Bruck, here:

Check back tomorrow for, "Read A Book" Thursday.

What’s up Beautiful People!

I hope you all had a wonderful week. You’re smiling, letting the sun shine in your life, and you’re being peaceful and at peace with yourself and others.

Today is, “Straight, From Your Gay Best” Advice Day and I thank you all for sending in your letters. My inbox is flooded with letters and please know I am getting to each and every one of your letters. I promise to answer each one, so please be patient and don’t fret. I got you covered!

Check out this week’s letter:

Dear Gay Best Friend,

Me and my man“Vick” have been together for three years. Our relationship has been good over the years. We have been faithful to each other, you know, doing everything right. But, we have reached a disagreement. You see, I have a 3-year-old son – Vick is not my son’s father; we got together a couple of months after my son was born – and Vick wants a child with me. He has no children, so this would be his first child. I want to get married before I have another child, but Vick wants to wait another 4 or 5 years before we get married.

This disagreement is really taking over our relationship. I’m supposed to be moving in with him in June, and the way things are looking, we might not make it to June. So, how can I fix this issue because I really love Vick and I don’t want to lose him – I Want To Get Married First
