What I Think Of Big Companies And The Downfall They've Done To Us...

“If you can control a man's thinking, you do not have to worry about his actions. When you determine what a man shall think you do not have to concern yourself about what he will do. If you make a man feel that he is inferior, you do not have to compel him to accept an inferior status, for he will seek it himself . If you make a man think that he is justly an outcast, you do not have to order him to the back door. He will go without being told; and if there is no back door, his very nature will demand one.” - George G. Woodson

"Until you do right by me, everything you even think about gonna fail!" - Celie, The Color Purple

"Did I ever ask you for anything? Did I ever ask you for anything!?! I never asked you for nothing, not even your sorry ass hand in marriage!" - Celie, The Color Purple

"Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe." - Frederick Douglass

I Just Wonder If Chingy Will Respond...

As some of you may be aware, a Transsexual by the name of FoxxJazell recently disclosed her "alledged" sexual relationship with rapper Chingy. FoxxJazell did it during a radio interview and revealed some shocking tidbits on Chingy.

Well, Chingy went on record, via YouTube, and stated that he is not gay. He does not know FoxxJazell and never met him/her.

Now that Chingy dismissed FoxJazell, the Transsexual rapper made a diss song to Chingy.

Please know that the song has very graphic language.

Check Out My Commentary With Essence Mag Online...

For those of you who may or may not be aware, resident gay hairstylist Dwight Eubanks recently announced his marriage engagement to a woman. Essence Magazine Online called and asked if I could write a commentary on the subject matter.

I agreed and below is the partial commentary I wrote. At the bottom of this I provide the link to the complete commentary on essence.com.

Please read, share, and discuss with your friends, family, and collegeaus. I appreciate all of your love and support. Continue to be great and live in your greatness.

God bless!

Yes, Girl, He Is Into You...And Him!
By Terrance Dean

Shocked, appalled, flabbergasted, and simply outdone.

That's the reaction many women had when resident gay hairstylist Dwight Eubanks of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" fame announced his engagement to a woman.

I must admit I too was taken aback by his announcement. I'm a fan of the show and love Dwight's advice and friendship with NeNe. I personally feel every woman needs a gay best friend. It's a necessity just like a pair of Manolo Blahnik pumps. Besides, I also respect the fact that Dwight is an openly gay man who has no qualms about his sexuality. So, like many of you I thought, Why is he getting married to a woman? But, then I thought, Why is this woman marrying an openly gay man? Can't she find a man?

Reality quickly stepped in and I reflected on something I shared in my book, "Hiding In Hip Hop." There are lots of men who have "cover girls," or the term you may be familiar with, "beards." These women knowingly date and marry men who are bisexual or gay. Yes, there are women who have no problem being in romantic or sexual relationships with men who sleep with other men. I saw quite a bit of it in the entertainment business. These women know what they are getting themselves involved in, and the terms and conditions of the relationships. But, it didn't stop there. I met more prominent men outside of entertainment—ministers, doctors, politicians, and businessmen. These men and women have arranged relationships where the women are aware of the men's sexual desires.

Speaking this week at Brown University and Ohio University...

Guest Speaker,
"The Cultural Phenomenon of Hip Hop:
Misogyny and Homophobia in Entertainment and
Its Effect on Society in the 21st Century"

Thursday, April 16
7pm - 9pm
Brown University
Sarah Doyle Women’s Center
List 120
64 College Street
Providence, RI

Guest Speaker,
“Day of Silence”

Friday, April 17
8:30pm
Ohio University
South Green at the Nelson Commons
Athens, OH

The Day of Silence is a day in which people of all sexual orientations and gender identities who support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights take a vow of silence to recognize and protest the silence that LGBT people face each day.
It is also a remembrance of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender brothers and sisters, who have and=2 0are victims of violence, rape, murder, harassment, and other hyenas hate crimes done against them. The Day of Silence is Ohio University's way of showing the United States and the entire world that we stand with, for, and by our LGBT people by not talking and wearing our "HOT" Day of Silence T-shirts and attending the 1st Annual Candle Light Vigil and 4th Annual Breaking the Silence Program this spring.

More Background History
Founded in 1996, the Day of Silence has become the largest single student-led action towards creating safer schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. From the first-ever Day of Silence at the University of Virginia in 1996, to the organizing efforts in over 1,900 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities across the country in 2002, its textured history reflects its diversity in both numbers and reach.

For too long, the silencing of LGBT people and their allies has been the norm. Whether it's the lack of LGBT-inclusive material in educational resources, or role assignments based upon our assumed gender, such silence and silencing affects us all in a profound way.

Just as profound, however, can be the use of silence as a form of protest. The Day of Silence moves the power of these personal experiences to a community-focused effort. The Day of Silence is a way of turning silence on its head, of reclaiming silence as a tool.

The Day of Silence institutes a visible silence, a silence during which participants protest anti-LGBT discrimination and abuse. Such an effort also allows us to reflect upon how powerful silencing can be, to focus on how we can make our own voices stronger and to begin to stop silencing ourselves.
